Grey.

This one is to my favourite model yet - My sister. She's thin as a stick, tall as a tree, has pretty features and hates studying. Perfect recipe for comments like - "beta, tu model banjha." ( darling, become a model already).

Losing myself

keswick-lake district- UK

So I am finally at university and it is stressful. So what do I do ? well, I recede into my my happy place. Every time i feel my brain shutting down I gather what energy is left in it and form an image of the most calming place I can think of. This happens to be one of them.
The water, trees, hills, and a warm sunny day.
Its my mental escape.

"High"

Its my get away.
Its my vantage point. I see everything from here. Its high up. I am safe.
Its cold and white. But the sun is forever shining here.
No sound but that of nature rides the winds here.
Its elemental.
When you are up there in that thin atmosphere, living of an oxygen tank, you know what life really is.
Its breathing. Its about you. Its biology. Not what society has been training you for. Not a job. Just you.
 Life is being alive.
Being up there is my high. My ecstasy.
My secret. Thats why it hides behind the curtain of clouds.

Looking through someone else's eyes (literally)

Last week I spent at Hyderabad. Often known a the historical city of India. My maternal grandparents live there and it was my turn to visit them! The trip was amazing ! Hightlights - it was my first time flying without my parents 2) I also got to see the old city, amazing ancient nooks and corners often ignored by people living there.

From the entire trip these are the photographs I love the most. that's my sister in the picture. Now she has a power of -5 dp. Hence the funny magnified image you can see through her glasses. This picture really just speaks for itself. Enjoy :)

Taking the "Chill Pill"

Imagine this - you are sitting on your bed, placed in your flat on the 13th floor of your building. Its pouring cats and dogs outside. Everything you see outside is drenched but you aren't. Your legs are out of the window feeling a bit of the rain. Its cold and dark except for the cup of sunshine in your hand.

Now you know what is was like when I clicked this picture. You need this serene weather sometimes. You need that "chill pill".

The World Through A Drop

Now this one was taken at my cousin's place. What I like about it is that it manages to capture the way someone sees a certain object. Some would see a sparkling drop, others would see pretty, round droplet decorating the grill and what not! But the trick is to try and bring out what you see to the rest of the world. Actually letting them peep into your mind and see that object the way you do. I see this object as a modified magnifying glass. Through that one droplet I can see an oddly inverted image of what lies ahead. Almost magical ! Like art doesn't always have to be man made, nature tries its best to add little wonders (I hope that is the appropriate word) to the collection on Earth.
This brings me back to my earlier post - Small Nothings. Check it out if you haven't :)

Escape

UK-lake district-Keswick

Now this picture reflects my mood at the moment. I am a lone traveller, just like him. I can't see what life is holding ahead for me thanks to the lofty brow of the hill. All I can see is various major goals (mountains and the woods), but details I'll know only once I get closer. Though I don't mind it as much, it is new, scary and lonely as well.

Odd isn't it ? That even though I don't know this guy who happens to be in my picture ( once to my great annoyance ) he is now the closest person I can relate to at the moment. So here's to beauty, courage and hope.

For those who dont know, im going to university abroad this august and also moving out of a place I've been living at for a decade I also happen to be not such a great fan of change ;)

Monsoon

Its monsoon here in Mumbai,India. And the Mumbai monsoons are to die for. Torrential rain and lightning   storms. The city is at its absolute best in the monsoons and I'd rather be NOWHERE else but here when it rains. This is just a picture of approaching monsoons taken from my window. Beautiful right ? The contrasting colours kind of reflect the actual gradual weather transition in mumbai around this time in one shot itself.
Have a great monsoon :)

The Alley

Well I couldn't wait and plus i have my holidays going on so, here is my next post in less than a week !

This was taken in Carlisle, UK, close to the station. What I like about the photograph is the light streaming in through the tunnel. Its got the characteristic morning light orange tinge. I love the elements in it. I think they are sort of calming.

Rishikesh

As compiling a whole trip or category of photographs into a post is extremely time consuming,I have come up with a new plan :D
I shall now post one picture per week and talk little about and I hope you put in your suggestions as well :)

Rishikesh- uttarakhand -India. You are looking at the river ganga finally reaching the base of the himalayas and continuing its journey further down south to the northern plains .What I love about this photograph are the memories ofc but also the composition and the colours. Along the side of this river are religious bathing places.

The Exotic Trip

Yep,this time I went to the Andaman and Nicobar islands off the east coast of India. I'd like to take this moment to appreciate what an amazing place India is - you have cold as hell mountains in the north, hot as hell deserts in the west , beaches that go on forever on the peninsular and flatland in the northern plains and finally heavenly islands of its coast ...its every single holiday feature of all the countries in one ...the country has massive potential, I just wish the government would realise that ! Anyway enough politics and down to the art -

I spent almost all my time in water or on water most of my pictures will be about water.

This is a beach on Neil Island. So I get out of that car into that hot, yucky, tropical climate and look around and BAM ! this is the scene that hits me.

This is sea foam, touching a previously dry sandy white beach under my sisters feet. A really well timed picture by my sister ( ignore the smiley flip-flops please :) )

Same beach but oh!..just look at all the colours in the next two pictures - it got various shades of blue, green, blue-green and white.

Now this is a really beautiful natural pieces of wood lying on the same beach. I was too busy with the water and didn't notice this so, yes..this one is clicked by my dad.

Like I said,so much of travelling by government ships that there has to some photographs taken on them. Here it is ! Sunset on a ship.

The way the ship churns the water is amazing ! And seeing it up front is wow call me naive. But hey! i'm young I haven't seen much of the world and small things like this facinate me. Machinery at work.

Another beach but this one is at havelock ..the jewel of the Andamans. Love the shadows and the sea
of course

This is the Radhanagar beach. The MOST beautiful beach I have ever seen. The thick forest comes right up to the sea with only this patch of spotless white sand separating them. During the sunset the three colours blue, green and white look amazing.

I do not know the person waving in the picture and I wish he wasn't in it :\

Now we are at port blair ... capital of the state. Another beautiful place and worth looking walking around near their HUGE jetty area ( except during afternoons ..heat is intolerable ) so this is the most scenic viewpoint there and also the direction at which you are looking at is exactly the direction from where the tsunami waves approached on this island in 2004. The irony.

Ross Island -the first island to be hit by the tsunami on in this bay.

Ross didn't seem too special EXCEPT when I saw this ancient monument covered with wines and most importantly squirrels and bulbuls <3
This is the closest picture I have ever taken of any animal as quick as the squirrel and I don't have a very high zooming facility on my camera so that means I got very close to this cute thing.

And the bulbul ! its pretty invisible,I guess you'll just have to play a game of spot the bird.

Boat. not much to say about it, except it is the best artistic picture I have clicked on this trip

Oh this is the natural bridge on Neil. now getting here is tricky .. it's off the shore so no beach and plus you get completely locked here when the tide rolls in. I loved this but the path to get here is filled with dead corals that want to hurt you.

oh look another artistic picture !

These are one of the beautiful crustaceans that live on the beach. so when you walk towards the sea as you approach it , it's like the whole beach comes alive ..all these tiny shells and camouflaged crabs spring to life and scuttle out of the way.

Finally the most prominent landmark on port blair. the lighthouse on north bay that also happens to star on the Rs 20 note. North bay is also famous for beautiful corals of its beach and the classic seawalk of which I was part of non :|

One of the most beautiful spider webs I have ever seen.

So i wist the beach at about 10 am and this is what a find- low tide and so much sea fog...i can separate the sea from the sky ...no horizon

Another one of my favorite artistic photos - and anchor

I told you the forest loves the sea so much the branches almost make it there ? Plus the colour combinations.

                                                                            Sunnnnnn!

Well goodbye for now and have a great day cause I definitely am - sitting by the seashore with my soda :)

Please feel free to comment ! I am dying to hear from you :)

Small Nothings

This post is all about those small happenings in life. Simple, elementary sights that are just there and which most of the times go unnoticed.

A crystal candle holder that plays with light cause it loves to.

A wall of red roses bathing in sunlight

A lone flower in a jar

That christmas tree

The life throbbing outside your door

Those clouds at your window

That lightning in a thunderstorm

The light bulbs that 'Lightens' your night (Courtesy dad)

That cinematic moment with wind in your hair and the sunset backdrop

That box of trinkets that define you

The rain droplets on your window

Those bright lights and shadows they throw on the clouds

Take a break sometimes and look beyond that veil that lets you take moments around you for granted. If you like these photos, you'll be amazed with what life has in store for you.
To be continued...
